What is a Multi-Domain (also known as SAN) Certificate?

A Multi-Domain (or Subject Alternative Name-SAN) certificate is capable of supporting multiple domains, server names, IP Addresses with a domain. This certificates are more flexible than Wildcard certificates since they are not limited to a single domain.

Note: Only non-Wildcard names can be added as SAN.

When installed on the Intranet Server, whenever a user (client PC) on the local or wide area network connects to the server using a browser, all data flowing between client PC and Server is encrusted and no one can read it even with snooping tools. Thus confidential data and passwords remain secure from the unauthorized users and even hackers.

This Multi-Domain certificate secures a Single local host / server name / IP address / Intranet URL plus 4 SAN values. Upon purchase of additional SAN packs one can secure many more SAN values.

Certificates are valid for a period ranging from 1 to 10 years. We offer 7-day free trial certificate.

    SecureNT Intranet SSL/TLS Certificate - Multi-Domain (1 + 4 SAN)

    Overview

The SecureNT Intranet SSL/TLS Certificate - Multi-Domain (1+4 SAN) offers a robust encryption solution to secure communications within internal networks. Particularly designed for intranet servers, this versatile certificate ensures secure HTTPS protocol connectivity for a range of local host names, server names, IP addresses, and web page URLs along with four additional Subject Alternative Name (SAN) values. This makes it the ideal choice for organizations looking to protect multiple internal subdomains or server environments within a singular certificate solution.

    Key Features

    • Multi-Domain Support: The certificate supports multiple domains or SANs, making it more flexible than traditional Wildcard SSL certificates. You can secure distinct host names, server names, IP addresses, and Intranet URLs under a single certificate, reducing complexity and cost.

    • Enhanced Security: By employing secure HTTPS protocol, all data transmitted between the client PC and the server is encrypted. This ensures that confidential information and passwords remain protected from unauthorized users and network eavesdroppers, providing peace of mind.

    • Scalability: The standard product includes one primary domain with four additional SAN values. Should your requirements grow, you can extend the security to additional SAN values in multiples of five, offering scalability as your network expands.

    • Flexible Validity: Flexible validity options ranging from 1 to 10 years allow organizations to choose a term that best fits their needs. Additionally, a 7-day free trial certificate is available to test the service before committing to a longer-term agreement.

What is a Multi-Domain (SAN) Certificate?

A Multi-Domain (also known as Subject Alternative Name or SAN) certificate provides the capability to secure multiple domains or host identifiers within a single certificate. Unlike Wildcard certificates, which are limited to a single domain but can secure an unlimited number of subdomains, SAN certificates are more versatile and can secure completely different domains or host identifiers. Note that SAN certificates in this offering do not support non-Wildcard names.

    Security and Encryption

When a SecureNT Intranet SSL/TLS Certificate - Multi-Domain (1+4 SAN) is installed on an intranet server, it initiates an encrypted connection with client PCs within the local or wide area network. This ensures the integrity and confidentiality of data exchanged between the client and server. Any intercepted data will be unreadable to unauthorized parties, significantly enhancing the security against potential cyber threats.
