    Overview

The STANDARD PENETROMETER FOR BITUMEN - AUTOMATIC WITHOUT DIGITAL TIMER – EIE 472 is an essential device engineered for performing high-precision penetration tests on a wide array of materials. This apparatus adheres to both national and international standards such as IP-49 and IS-1448, ensuring high-quality and reliable results. It is specially designed to measure the consistency and performance characteristics of substances like grease, petroleum, bitumen, tar, wax, polish, foodstuffs, rubber asphalts, and pharmaceutical creams. The penetrometer measures the depth (in tenths of a millimeter) to which a standard needle penetrates a sample under a specific weight and duration, providing a quantitative value known as the penetration number.

    Key Applications

    1. Grease and Petroleum Analysis: The device is indispensable for determining the consistency and quality of lubricants and greases, ensuring they meet industry and application standards.
    2. Bitumen and Asphalt Testing: Widely used in construction and roadwork for evaluating the softness and pliability of bitumen, which is crucial for weather-resistant and durable pavements.
    3. Material Testing for Waxes and Polishes: Vital for the production and quality control of various waxes and polishes, the penetrometer helps ascertain their suitability for consumer and industrial applications.
    4. Foodstuff Analysis: Employed in the food industry to measure spreadability and consistency of products like butter and margarine.
    5. Pharmaceutical Testing: Used to test creams and ointments to ensure proper consistency and efficacy.
    6. Rubber Testing: Key for assessing the softness and quality of rubber materials used in various industrial applications.

    Design and Construction

    1. Cast Aluminium Base: Provides a stable and robust foundation for consistent and accurate measurements. The cast aluminium construction ensures durability and resistance to corrosion and wear.
    2. Iron Stand: A sturdy iron stand supports the aluminium arm, offering precise vertical movement and stability.
    3. Aluminium Arm: Attached to the stand, the aluminium arm provides smooth and controlled movement of the penetration rod.
    4. 6-Inch Dial: A crucial component for reading measurements, the dial is graduated from 0 to 400 in one-tenth millimeter subdivisions, providing high-resolution penetration data.
    5. Brass Chromium-Plated Rod: This rod enhances durability and precision, ensuring long-term performance and accurate measurements.
    6. Adjustable Needle Holder: Designed to securely hold the penetration needle in place, the holder can be adjusted for different testing requirements.
    7. Penetration Needle: Made to stringent specifications, this needle is crucial in creating the depression and providing precise data on the sample's consistency.
    8. Sample Container and Transfer Dish: These accessories ensure easy and safe handling of the sample material for testing.
    9. 50-Gram Weight: A precisely measured weight necessary for standard testing procedures.
